POPIA Notice

Your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013.

Responsible party

HMA – Hindu Matchmaking Africa is the responsible party. Privacy queries and data subject requests may be sent to hmafrica007@gmail.com.

Lawful basis

We process your personal information on the basis of your consent, the performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in keeping the platform safe, and our legal obligations.

Special personal information

Religious and cultural details are special personal information under POPIA. We process these only with your explicit consent, given separately at registration, and only to provide culturally appropriate matchmaking.

Consent records

Every consent you give — terms, privacy, special information processing, age confirmation and marketing — is recorded with a timestamp and the version of the document you accepted.

Your rights as a data subject

  • Be notified that your information is being collected.
  • Request access to the information we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of inaccurate or excessive information.
  • Object to processing and withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Cross-border transfers

Our infrastructure may store data outside South Africa. Where this happens, we ensure the recipient is subject to protections comparable to POPIA.
