Safety Centre

Your safety is not a feature — it is the foundation

HMA is an adults-only matchmaking service. These are our commitments, and the practical guidance we ask every member to follow.

Strictly 18+

Date of birth is mandatory and age is checked at registration, at profile save, and again in the database. Under-18 accounts are rejected outright and no administrator can override this.

Verification

Email and mobile verification are required before a profile can go live. Additional identity verification may be requested for a verified badge.

Privacy controls

Choose whether your photos and contact details are visible to everyone, to connections only, or to nobody. Contact details are never shown by default.

Reporting

Every profile, photo and conversation can be reported. Reports go straight to our moderation queue with a full audit trail.

Enforcement

Moderators can hide content, suspend accounts and escalate to administrators. Serious matters may be referred to the authorities.

Support

Something not right? Contact our team directly and we will respond as quickly as we can.

Never send money. HMA will never ask you for money on behalf of another member. If a member asks you for funds, stop communicating and report them immediately.

Safety guidance

Communicating safely

  • Keep conversations inside HMA until you genuinely trust the person. Our messaging keeps your number and email private.
  • Take your time. Anyone rushing you into another app, a phone call or a meeting is a warning sign.
  • Never feel obliged to reply. You may block or report at any moment, without explaining yourself.

Protecting your personal information

  • Never share your residential address, ID number, banking details, workplace address or your children's details.
  • Avoid photographs that reveal your home, your car registration or your children's school uniform.
  • HMA staff will never ask you for your password, an OTP or your card details.

Spotting fake profiles

  • Very few photographs, all extremely polished, or photographs that appear elsewhere online.
  • The story shifts: names, ages, cities or family details that change between conversations.
  • Immediate declarations of love, or refusal to do a short video call after weeks of chatting.

Financial scams

  • Never send money, airtime, gift vouchers or cryptocurrency to someone you met online — no matter the emergency described.
  • Ignore investment, trading or 'guaranteed return' opportunities introduced by a member.
  • Do not accept money into your account on someone else's behalf. That is how money-laundering charges begin.

Meeting someone safely

  • Meet in a public place in daylight for the first several meetings. Arrange your own transport there and back.
  • Tell a family member or friend who you are meeting, where, and when you expect to be home. Share your live location with them.
  • Watch your drink, keep your phone charged, and leave the moment you feel uncomfortable.

Reporting suspicious behaviour

  • Use Report profile on any member card or conversation. Reports are private and are read only by authorised HMA moderators.
  • Blocking is immediate and silent — the other member is never told.
  • Any credible concern that a member is under 18 places that account into priority moderation review at once.

What you can report

  • Fake profile
  • Harassment
  • Inappropriate content
  • Scam or asking for money
  • Misrepresentation
  • Married or ineligible
  • Underage concern
  • Offensive behaviour
  • Something else

Blocking and privacy

Blocking takes effect immediately: the member cannot message you, cannot send you an interest, and you disappear from each other's recommendations. They are never told that you blocked them. Your street address, exact location, telephone number and private email address can never be displayed publicly on HMA.
